Piazza garibaldi

Inaugurated on 11 July 2008, Piazza Garibaldi in Castiglione della Pescaia is an example of a carefully tailored urban furnishing project, based on a design by the Client and constructed by Vasart Gozzi srl.
The paving of the square in porphyry cubes, the furnishings and the kerbs of the flower boxes, with their light yellow surfaces, brush-hammered or smooth, that create a chromatic contrast with the colour of the paving but match the colour of the library building, the playground, the pre-existing trees and the green grassy patches of the flowerbeds have restored life to this place.
The asphalted parking area and the wall separating the garden that surrounds the historic library building have been eliminated, so as to create a large living space, dominated by the library building, the historic fountain, and the architectural elements inspired by the sea.
In Via Vespucci, the pre-existing wall has been replaced with wave-shaped benches, that also serve as flower boxes for plants descending all the way to the road, and create an ideal connection between the sea and the earth. In front of the library building, round benches “embrace” the trees and offer an oasis fostering relaxation.
Relegated for years to the role of flower bed that detracted from its value, it is now characterised by its finely shaped kerb, made of the same material as the furnishings.
All the elements are made of reinforced concrete with galvanised knurled steel (conforming to the UNI ISO 2081/89 standards and manufactured by an ISO 9001:2000 certified company); the mix is made of cement, marble grit of carefully selected grain size, synthetic fibres and superplasticisers.
Piazza Garibaldi is an excellent example of how to enhance the attractiveness of public spaces: classical materials, revisited in a modern perspective, account for the uniqueness of the works by Vasart Gozzi srl, a company that combines the thirty-year experience of its founder with the contemporary taste of the new generations.
